The much awaited hatchback from Tata Motors, the Bolt is now scheduled to be launched early on in 2015. Like the Zest, the Bolt too will be based on the Vista platform. Underneath the hood, the Bolt will feature the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that pumps 90PS of power and 140Nm of torque. The Bolt will also be made available with the 1.3-litre diesel mill producing 75PS and 190Nm. Like the Zest, the Bolt too gets three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport.
On the outside, Bolt will sport Tata Motors’ new design language. At the front it gets a nice smiley grille with a chrome strip above it. Connecting the grille with the headlights is what Tata calls the humanity line. The blackened out projector headlamps and the silver accents on highlighting the fog lamps give the front end a nice clean look. The rear of the Bolt gets a striking stance thanks to the blackened out bumper and LED festooned taillights. In profile, the Bolt looks very familiar to its predecessors but sports the same alloy wheels that we have seen on the Zest.
On the inside the overall layout of the dashboard is pretty similar to the one seen on the Zest but instead of the dual colour treatment, the Bolt gets an all black finish. The chrome surrounds on the AC vents is a nice touch.
Tata Motors will launch the Bolt early on in 2015. We expect it to be priced starting Rs 4lakh. The Bolt will take on the Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto EVO, the Toyota Etios Liva and the likes.
