While the announcement of the Mahindra KUV100, the company’s smallest new SUV has got many a petrolhead stand up and take notice, there is good news coming out of it for cinema buffs too as Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has been roped in as the brand ambassador for the micro-SUV.
With strong orange undertones, the official website of the Mahindra KUV 100 has the ‘Dilwale’ actor striking various poses with the Indian automaker’s latest offering, to the delight of many of his female fans. A mini six-second YouTube video, featuring a montage of Varun’s photographs with the KUV100, is also a part of this association.
In a press release, Mahindra termed the KUV100 as a next generation SUV that fits the evolving aspirations and lifestyle of today's youth. Design-wise, the Mahindra KUV100 remains true to the tough Mahindra DNA with its aggressive styling and dominating SUV stance.
Under the hood, the KUV100 will be powered by the world-class mFALCON, an all-new engine family with options of both petrol (mFALCON, G80) and diesel (mFALCON, D75). The new petrol engine is a 1.2-litre dual VTVT motor with power figure of 83PS. The diesel variant is 1.2-litre turbo-charged mill and will make 78PS of peak power.
Expect the KUV100 to go up against a whole host of hatchbacks in India according to its pricing including the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Wagon R, Hyundai’s Grand i10 and the Tata Zica that will be launched soon. The real competition for the KUV100 will only come from the Suzuki Ignis that will come to the Indian market sometime in late 2016.
