Ducati Multistrada V4

Price: The Ducati Multistrada V4 costs Rs 21.48 lakh and the V4 S costs Rs 26.73 lakh. The V4 Rally’s Red colour variant costs Rs 29.72 lakh while the Black colour variant costs Rs 30.02 lakh. The V4 Pikes Peak costs Rs 31.48 lakh (all price ex-showroom). The Multistrada V4 RS is priced at Rs 38.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Design: In terms of design, the Multistrada V4 is a lot sharper than before. Its muscular fuel tank can actually accommodate 22 litres of fuel, while its slim tail section has been designed to offer a better off-road riding posture. The Rally version also gets a larger 30-litre fuel tank, wider footpegs, more suspension travel, and a taller windscreen.

Features: The bike even has a series of ducts which channel air towards the engine for better thermal management. You have an LED headlight featuring cornering lights for safety and a radar-based cruise control system that's available in the top spec models. Other features include a full-colour TFT instrument console with map navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. You can even store or charge your phone in a nifty pocket on the top of the tank.

Engine: Powering the new Multi is a 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine that's been tuned to deliver 170PS at 10,500rpm and 125Nm at 8750rpm. It even has the ability to deactivate the rear cylinders when the bike is idling. The Rally trim runs on 19-/17-inch wire-spoke wheels with tubeless tyres. Its electronic suite includes a 6-axis IMU, cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Vehicle Hold Control (VHC). Ducati's semi-active Skyhook Suspension (DSS) has the ability to auto level itself when it detects more load. The Multistrada V4 uses an aluminium monocoque frame, a 19-inch front wheel and double-sided swingarm that can accommodate both spoke and alloy wheels. The wheelbase is now shorter -- 1,567mm as opposed to 1592mm. It also has more room to play with a higher ground clearance of 220mm. Ducati’s semi-active Skyhook Suspension (DSS) handles suspension duties. The bike weighs in at 215kg (dry), which is 10kg lighter than the Multistrada 1260 Enduro.

Rivals: The Ducati Multistrada V4 slots goes against the likes of the BMW R 1250 GS and the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250. Being more powerful than both, it certainly has a crucial edge over its rivals.

Variants: There are four different variants to choose from which includes the Multistrada V4, V4 S, Rally and the Pikes Peak.
