2017 Kawasaki Z900 | Road Test Review

The Z900 is Kawasaki’s newest naked in the country, and replaces the Z800. It uses a bigger engine, which is a downsized version of the Z1000’s and offers 125PS of power. The design is more modern looking than the Z800, and is curvier, with the stance of a litre-class motorcycle. The headlights are not LED units though the tail light is a Z-shaped LED unit. Performance from the inline four cylinder engine is explosive, and the bike can give superbikes a run for their money with its agility and mind numbing acceleration. In fact acceleration is so fierce you might have trouble keeping the front end down in the first three gears. The six-speed gearbox the engine is mated to is a slick-shifting close ratio gearbox tuned to offer excellent in gear acceleration for short quick rides. The chassis is a trellis frame which is lighter and is an evolution of the Z800’s with a new subframe. The upside down forks upfront and monoshock at the rear with a linkage are meant to provide a supple ride while not compromising on sporting handling. On paper it sounds very promising. Here we put the bike through its paces to tell you what it is capable of.
