There's a lot riding on the shoulders of the Kicks. It truly is a make or break product for Nissan India. The Japanese automaker is launching a salvo at the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment, that includes the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, Renault Duster as well as the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
And, this time round, Nissan seems well-prepped. Underpinning the Kicks is the tried-and-tested B0 platform we've seen with the Duster and the Captur. The engines too, are the trusty 1.5 K9K diesel, and the 1.5 H4K petrol that make 110PS and 106PS of power respectively. Notably, there's no automatic transmission on offer for the moment. The petrol makes do with a 5-speed manual, whereas the diesel gets a 6-speed unit.
On the features front, the Kicks come equipped with LED projector headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, 360° camera, leather upholstery and an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Nissan is offering a total of four airbags on the top-spec version of the Kicks.
We're expecting Nissan to price the Kicks on par with the Renault Captur. That means prices should start around the Rs 10 lakh mark and top out at around Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are underway, and prices are expected to be officially announced by January 2019.
