Q. Hi All, I am buying the CBR 650 coming August and there are a few questions on my head. 1. What's the yearly maintenance? 2. Worth buying over the Z900 or Versys? 3. Is there on road assistance from Honda? 4. Is there any safety measure against being stolen(like an alarm which can be installed) since I reside in a partially secure apartment. Has security cameras though. Thanks in Advance - CBR650F?
Hello Ashwin, the yearly maintenance for 650F for me is 35k including service intervals. I might be incorrect as well as I haven't changed any parts yet except the chain sprocket and tyre sets. It is worth buying above the versys but not sure how Z900 rides so cannot comment on that. There is no road assistance for Honda here in Pune but honestly, the bike is very reliable and easy to use that you won't face issues. Not sure if there is any space for alarm installation, like I said I haven't made much changes in my bike. You can check with the service guys about this. If you stay in Pune, the bike is available only in pashankar Honda and BU Bhandari Honda showrooms. Thank you.
Q. Is it for touring like Honda 650 - GSX S750?
I own one a do not recommend it for touring. Its for pure fun of short distance riding (max 2-3 hrs) on an weekend morning. Its better within city confines or closed tracks as there is no wind protection and headwinds can be very tiring to negotiate on the wrong side of 120 kph. But the four cylinder engine is a gem with a slick shifting gear box. There are very few bikes where you can find the neutral so easily. You can also feel power being delivered almost till 11000 rpm before red-lining at 11.5k. I would have loved a touring version of this bike due to the nature of the engine that can pull effortlessly from 70 kph with great acceleration in 6th gear. It is also rideable at 60kph in 5th gear inside city with enough reserve available for quick overtaking without a gear change. You can try installing handle bar raisers, a better seat, a big wind screen and couple of panniers for short touring on tarmac.
It is any time better than honda 650 , right from comfort to mileage
Q. Which is tha fastest between Kawasaki Ninja 650, CBR 600R and CBR 650F?

Fastest is cbr600r ,but for comfortable yet a punchy ride then ninja 650 makes a stronger case

If you have the budget and like a fully faired bike then go for the cbr. But if you like naked bikes then the 600i is the one

Q. Does it have heating problem - CBR650F?
There are minimal heat issues while in city but it is always bearable than the other bikes. Comparatively the heat management is good and that is what you expect from a bike like CBR.
In bumper to bumper traffic, yes, you can feel the heat
Not much
Q. This or CBR 650F? Could u pls recommend which to go with in terms of reliability, ease of maintenance, minimal track riding and a bit of touring. Also the availability of parts. Although I had the opportunity to test ride the GSX S750 which was brilliant, could not get a test ride for almost 6 months for the CBR 650F. So finding it hard to decide. Do not want to make a wrong decision.
Seriously :D, honda is honda, it is also low maintainence with quality hardware and ride
Always go for Suzuki it has low maintenance

Hi Ashwin, good to know you preferring the CBR 650f. I would tell you that the maintenance of CBR 650f is around 20-25k per year if you face any issue with the bike or with the performance. Service costs somewhere around 5-6k here in Pune and parts are costly but top quality. It is worth buying over the versys but Z900 is much better than the CBR. There is Honda road assistance service as well however you may not be able to fit any other alarm off safety feature as it might affect the bike's battery and other technical items. This was suggested by Honda. Hope this answers all your questionsThanks.
