Contrary to what TVS claims i have found that 9 to 10 litres fills up the tank almost up to the cap ( including about 1.75 litres in reserve.) Its never a good idea to fill more. The correct way to measure your mileage is to let it come to reserve, note the km. reading, fill whatever quantity you want, and finally note the km reading exactly when the next reserve comes up. This will give you your correct mileage if you divide the kms by the litres you have filled.

In general, 10-12 percent of the overall fuel capacity is the reserved capacity of the vehicle. The TVS Apache RTR 180 features a 12 liters fuel tank and the reserved fuel capacity would be around 1.2- 1.4 liters.
