BYD has revealed the Sealion 7 SUV at the Auto Expo 2025, ahead of its expected launch in the coming months. It comes with elegant styling, a premium interior with a host of top-notch features, and an impressive claimed range.
For those of you who are searching for a well-packaged Rs 50 lakh electric SUV, here’s an in-depth look at the Sealion 7:
The BYD Sealion 7 features a minimalist design with elegant styling elements. It can be had in as many as four exterior colour options: Cosmos Black, Atlantis Gray, Aurora White and Shark Gray.
Up front, it gets a low-slung bonnet, sleek LED DRLs and a closed-off grille. The fascia looks clean with sharp styling elements. The nose is accentuated by sharp lines which adds a nice touch to the front end.
In profile, you get to realize that it is a long car with its roofline neatly sloping towards the rear. It sports large 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome accents and a bit of cladding around the wheel arches. Flush door handles add a premium touch to the overall look.

The rear gets connected LED tail lamps that get signature BYD styling. Additionally, it also gets a minor lip spoiler and a chunky silver skid plate.
Internationally, the Sealion 7 is offered in two cabin schemes: Black and Tahiti Blue and Nappa leather upholstery. In typical BYD fashion, it comes with a large rotating touchscreen display mounted on a nice black glass panel that also houses the digital driver’s display. The steering wheel is a chunky four-spoke unit with multiple controls and functions. The quality of materials used around the cabin feels top-notch and there are plenty of storage options as well in the lower centre console, and two wireless phone charging pads.
Top features include auto-folding heated ORVMs, dual-zone climate control, a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic glassroof, electric sunshades, heated rear seats, ventilated and heated front seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
Top safety features include 9 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera, and level-2 ADAS features.
The Sealion 7 comes with a 82.5 kWh battery pack, and is available in both RWD and AWD drivetrains. With the RWD, it makes 313 PS and 380 Nm and with AWD, it churns out 530 PS and 690 Nm. It offers a claimed range of up to 567 km.
The BYD Sealion 7 is set to arrive in the markets by March 2025, with an expected price of around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom). After its launch, it will rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6.
