BYD India has confirmed the Sealion 7 SUV to be showcased in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The premium compact electric SUV coupe is already on sale in global markets, and it will be the Chinese automaker’s fifth electric offering on our shores, considering the discontinued E6. Following its showcase at the Expo, it will be launched in India in the first quarter of 2025. That said, it will join the Atto 3, eMax7, and Seal in BYD’s India lineup. If you’re eager to know more about this new electric SUV in India, we have covered all in detail below:
The BYD Sealion looks posh with a good balance between ruggedness and elegance. If we start from its face, it follows the typical design philosophy of BYD with a low-slung bonnet, sleek LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs, and an EV-specific blanked-off grille. The nose gets body lines as well as horizontal slats for the air vents below, which sit just above the gloss silver skid plate.
The profile looks stylish with a coupe roofline sloping down to the rear. The SUV holds quite a sporty stance with high ground clearance and big 20-inch alloy wheels. There’s a very fine and thin body cladding outlined around the wheel arches which get chrome inserts, and you also get body-coloured ORVMs and flush-type door handles.
The SUV, besides looking premium, also holds up its sportiness with a dominant roof-mounted spoiler and a secondary boot lip spoiler as well. You get connected LED taillamps that wrap around like water droplets.

The international-spec Sealion 7 is available in three variants and four colour options. This might vary on the India-specific model.
The international variant of the BYD Sealion offers two cabin themes: Black and Tahiti Blue.
The dashboard has a minimalist design, featuring a large rotating display mounted on a sleek black glass panel. This panel also houses the integrated digital driver’s display and seamlessly incorporates the AC vents at the edges. The steering wheel is a stylish four-spoke dual-tone unit with mounted controls for audio and calling. The centre console includes a front armrest with ample storage space. Leather seats are standard in the international model, though the India-spec variant might feature some tweaks.
In terms of features, the international Sealion 7 is packed with premium equipment, including auto-folding heated ORVMs, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, electric sunshades, ventilated and heated front seats, heated rear seats, an air purifier, ambient lighting, adaptive cruise control, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
Passenger safety is ensured by 9 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX mounts, a 360-degree camera, and level-2 ADAS features.

While official details about the India-spec Sealion 7 are yet to be revealed, it is expected to carry over the specifications of its international counterpart.
Upon its launch in India, which is confirmed by March 2025, the Sealion 7 is expected to be priced around the Rs 45 lakh mark (ex-showroom). It rivals the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and would act as a more affordable alternative to the Kia EV6.
