Even though the technical specifications are under wraps, Land Rover claims the most powerful Range Rover EV will be as quick as its V8 sibling!

Land Rover has given us a sneak peek of the upcoming Range Rover EV ahead of its expected debut in 2024. It’s for the first time the popular running nameplate is set to get a fully electric powertrain. And such is the excitement for bringing one home that  Land Rover already has a waiting list for those looking to just book the EV!

Back to the teaser now, that gives a sneak peek of the upcoming Range Rover EV’s design. It looks almost identical to its ICE-powered sibling,  though with some bespoke bits such as a different grille, and ‘EV’ badging on the hub caps. And obviously, the fuel filler has been replaced by a charging port and the lid for it is now motorised. Sweet!

Underpinning the new Range Rover EV is the carmaker’s flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) platform. It’s based on an 800 V architecture so it can support rapid fast charging. No word on the technical details yet, but you can expect multiple battery sizes and powertrains. And the performance of its most powerful model should be comparable to that of the Range Rover V8, which does 0-100kmph in 4.6 seconds.

Range Rover SUVs are known for their off-road ability and we suspect the electric one to continue the legacy. It should get multiple tricks up its sleeve, both software and hardware related. Land Rover also says it can wade through 850 mm of water as well, quite incredible for an electric vehicle.

The flagship Range Rover EV, as mentioned earlier, is expected to debut in 2024. And considering the ICE version is so popular here, especially with B-town celebs, we suspect Land Rover will not waste any time bringing the electric version here. It will lock horns with models such as the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron and upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV
