Out of these 10 models, the newly launched Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabrio and new GLC are confirmed for India

  • Mercedes-Benz to launch 10 models in India this year.
  • A host of AMGs and EVs expected to be part of the lineup.
  • New AMG E53 Cabrio and GLC among these cars.
  • Mercedes sold over 15,000 cars in 2022 and continues its dominance in India.

With over 15,000 vehicles sold and a 41 per cent year-on-year growth, Mercedes-Benz is no doubt ruling the luxury vehicle market in India. The German marque launched 10 models in the country, including locally assembled AMG and electric models. Now, Mercedes aims to keep the strong momentum going with 10 launches planned for 2023.

Come Q3 2023, Mercedes-Benz will be introducing the new GLC in the Indian market. That, along with the new AMG E 53 Cabriolet that kickstarted the carmaker’s inning for this year, are the two confirmed models. The rest of the eight models are yet to be determined by Mercedes.

That said, we expect to see more EVs make inroads later this year. Probable contenders include new models such as the EQE SUV and sedan and the EQS SUV; all of which have been introduced internationally and are yet to make inroads here. The E-Class has always been Merc’s hot seller and with the latest iteration in the works for debut, expect it to be seen here as well.

And yes, we didn’t forget about AMGs! The new C63 with its hybridised 2-litre turbo-petrol, latest iteration of the popular SL, electrified GT four-door, and the all-electric AMG EQE are all probable contenders. The Mercedes-AMG One with F1 power, though, is a bit of wishful thinking as it has been sold out.

It’s no doubt that Mercedes’ expansive portfolio has helped the carmaker extend its lead in the Indian market. In fact, the carmaker says top-end vehicles such as the S-Class and Maybach models have grown in India by a whopping 69 per cent in 2022 (year-on-year) compared to 2021. And with 10 models lined up for 2023, the carmaker aims to further cement its dominance.
