More powerful 240PS 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain.
Gets a larger 14-inch infotainment system.
Launch likely in February 2022.
Lexus is about to launch the 2022 NX 350h in India, and it has officially started taking bookings for the compact luxury SUV. It’ll be an all-new model with a much quicker petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. It is expected to be launched next month, likely at a premium over the outgoing Lexus NX that starts at Rs 58.2 lakh (ex-showroom).
On the outside, the new Lexus NX has similar proportions but an all-new design. A large, gaping grille dominates the front fascia, flanked by sharp headlamps bisected by L-shaped DRLs. At the rear, the company logo is replaced with a ‘Lexus’ badge that sits at the centre of the tailgate. An LED strip runs across the entire width of the tailgate, connecting the two taillights.
The upcoming Lexus NX 350h will be available in three variants: Exquisite, Luxury, and F-Sport. It will be loaded with features such as a panoramic sunroof, 14-inch touchscreen and a 10-inch head-up display (HUD).
Under the bonnet, its 2.5-litre petrol engine combined with the hybrid powertrain makes around 40PS more than the model it replaces. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an electronic CVT automatic, and for the rear wheels, the standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) system uses a separate electric motor.
With a claimed 0-100kmph time of 7.2 seconds, the new NX hybrid is significantly quicker than its predecessor that needs 9.2 seconds to do the same.
We expect the 2022 Lexus NX 350h to go on sale in February at a starting price of around Rs 60 lakh. It’ll rival the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Audi Q5 luxury SUVs.
