Honda has launched the 2023 CB300F at Rs 1,70,000. This is a massive Rs 58,900 price drop compared to when it was first launched a year ago with a price tag of Rs 2,28,900 (both ex-showroom Delhi).
The changes in the 2023 model is that the 293cc air-oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 24.47PS and 25.6Nm is now BS6.2 and OBD-2 compliant. The rest of the bike has remained unchanged, meaning it comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch and gets the same USD fork and 5-step preload adjustable monoshock suspension setup.
The brake setup includes a 276mm front disc and 220mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. Features-wise, the bike still gets a fully-digital LCD instrument console that gives speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and gear position indicator readouts along with a clock.
The colour options available are Sports Red, Mat Marvel Blue Metallic and Mat Axis Grey Metallic. Its rivals are the BMW G 310 R, Triumph Speed 400, TVS Apache RTR 310, KTM 390 Duke, QJ Motor SRK 400 and the Bajaj Dominar 400.
The massive price drop of the 2023 Honda CB300F has arrived at a time when the TVS Apache RTR 310 and the all-new KTM 390 Duke have been launched. Both bikes offer far better value for their respective price tags.
As mentioned earlier, at the time of inital launch, the CB300F was priced at Rs 2,28,900, which is just Rs 4,100 more affordable than the extremely value-for-money Triumph Speed 400 (Rs 2,33,000). Apart from a bigger liquid-cooled engine and a more premium build quality, the Speed 400 also comes equipped with a bunch of cool electronics.
So while the price drop is a welcomed move, the updates aren’t that substantial to make the CB300F standout amongst its rivals. In fact, the streetfighter should have gotten the price tag of Rs 1,70,000 when it was first launched in August 2022. It’s just a case of too little, too late for the Honda CB300F.
