Kia has just introduced the refreshed 2023 Seltos, which continues to draw attention thanks to its updated design, plentiful feature additions and the inclusion of ADAS features. The facelifted Seltos is offered across three broad trims – Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line – that opens up to a whole host of trims. In this article, we will provide a detailed analysis of the base-spec HTE variant of the Seltos range.
At the front, the base-spec HTE variant is equipped with halogen projector headlamps, with body-coloured front bumpers. Notably, it misses out on LED DRLs and indicators, fog lamps and LED headlamps, all of which are limited to higher-end trims.
The side profile of the car features body-coloured door handles and a set of 16-inch steel wheels, which are offered with full covers. Notably, the indicators on the car are not integrated into ORVMs and are mounted on the fenders. Bits such as chrome door handles and alloys are exclusive to the higher-end models.

Moving to the rear, you'll notice the Seltos HTE gets connected tail lamps, but the centre bit isn’t illuminated here and also, these rely on incandescent bulbs and not LEDs. You also get a silver skid plate on the bumper finished in black and a shark fin antenna mounted on the roof.
Inside, the base HTE variant features an all-black interior with silver trim and fabric upholstery. Notably, you miss out on an infotainment system, but it comes with a basic digital instrument cluster. Other bits onboard include a manual AC, power windows on all four corners, and a height-adjustable driver seat.
Additionally, the HTE variant is offered with rear AC vents with two type-C USB chargers for rear passengers for added convenience. However, do note that niceties such as air purifier, dual zone climate control, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, fully digital 10.25-inch drivers display and keyless entry with push-button start/stop are limited to higher-end models.
The main talking point of the facelifted 2023 Kia Seltos lineup is its expansive standard safety kit such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Top-end models also get the added convenience of ADAS.
The base-spec HTE variant is offered with either 1.5-litre NA petrol or 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 115PS petrol engine can only be paired to 6-speed manual while the 116PS diesel is paired with 6-speed clutchless manual transmission. You need to step up if you want the turbo-petrol and automatic transmission options of these engines.
The Kia Seltos HTE variant is priced at Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and is offered in two shades: Clear White and Sparkling Silver.
It competes against the Hyundai Creta, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross.
