Just like the outgoing Sonet, the facelifted model is offered in three broad trims, boasting varying styling cues, interior themes, and features

The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift has been revealed to the public ahead of its expected launch sometime in early 2024. Bookings for the sub-compact SUV are set to officially open on December 20, 2023. It continues to be available in three broad trims, namely Tech Line, GT Line and X-Line. Each of these trims offer bespoke styling touches and variant-specific powertrain options.

Today, we compare the Tech Line and GT Line trims of the 2024 Kia Sonet using images:

Exterior

All trims incorporate the new styling cues, with subtle touches differentiating them. Both the Tech and GT Line get the same new grille, but the latter gets distributed silver inserts on it.

Other differences come in the form of the fog lamp housing, which is placed vertically just below the headlight unit in the Tech Line and horizontally within the bumper in the GT Line. The lower bumper itself has slightly varying design for the cladding.

As expected, changes aren’t night and day in profile, with the only differentiating element being the design of the alloys. The Tech Line gets a more elegant looking unit, while the GT Line relies on a sportier looking unit.

The rear of both are rather similar, save for the bumper, which gets a few cuts and scoops in the GT Line trim.

All in all, the minor changes between the two do impart varying demeanours. While the Tech Line looks sharp, the GT Line adds a pinch of sportiness in that package.

Interior and features

While the dashboard and cabin layout is similar between the two trims, the differences lie in their colour themes. You only get a single option with the GT Line – an all-black interior with white inserts.

On the other hand, the Tech Line gets multiple options – an all-black theme with semi-leatherette seats in the lower-spec trim, black and beige with semi leatherette dual-tone seats in mid-spec variants, and black and brown theme with leatherette seats in the higher-end variants.

Both the trims pack features such as a wireless phone charger, 4-way powered driver seat (diesel-iMT in Tech Line), rear wiper washer, 7-speaker Bose sound system, air purifier, anti-glare inside rear view mirror (IRVM), a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a new 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

But the GT Line does get a few goodies over the Tech Line, including a 360-degree camera and a bunch of ADAS features like forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, high beam assist, driver attention warning, and auto emergency braking. You also get a few feel-good touches like a leather-wrapped steering wheel with GT Line logo, aluminium pedals, and black leatherette seats.

So the GT Line can only be had with automatic transmission options, that too only with the turbo-petrol and diesel engines. As for the Tech Line, you get multiple powertrain options including all three engine offerings.

Expected launch and prices

Prices of the facelifted Sonet are expected to be announced in early 2024, and we suspect they could start from around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite.
