2024 Yamaha R15M And Moto GP Edition Launched In Taiwan

The 2024 Yamaha R15M and its Moto GP edition have been launched in Taiwan. Both bikes look similar to the India-spec models but feature a few aesthetic changes including updated colours and liveries. Both bikes even have saree guards.

The Yamaha R15M from Taiwan has a similar black and silver colour scheme as the Indian Metallic Grey variant. But it has a different colour pattern with more black panels and a slightly tweaked livery. At the front, the headlight cowl, the top half of the fairing and the front fender have been blacked out. Whereas, the fuel tank and the lower half of the fairing are finished in silver. There are blue and white stripes on both sides of the fairing, on which R15 is written in bold black letters while M is written in blue with a black outline. The tail section of the bike has also received a black treatment.

The Taiwanese R15M Moto GP edition features the same paint scheme and liveries as the current-gen R15M Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition that we have here in India. The only difference is that the Taiwanese bike has golden Yamaha logos on the tank, while we get the silver logos.

In Taiwan, both the colour variants of the Yamaha R15M have been launched at an ex-showroom price of 1,69,000 yuan, which is equivalent to Rs 4,35,877. However, in India, the R15M is available at a price tag of Rs 1,96,500 and the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition costs Rs 1,97,700 (both prices ex-showroom). It is likely that the Taiwanese-spec R15 is imported from India. We’ve reached out to the brand for a confirmation, and will update the story once we hear from them.

Both Indian and Taiwanese models of the Yamaha R15M are powered by the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) that produces a peak output of 18.4PS and 14.2Nm, paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

The Yamaha R15M doesn’t have a direct rival in India, but the 155cc bike competes against the likes of Hero Karizma XMR, KTM RC 125, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
