The bikes are now more feature-packed than before!

Quick Highlights

  • Yamaha had recently unveiled the 2025 R3 globally

  • Now the 2025 Yamaha MT-03 is here with the same updates

  • Both bikes now come with a slip-and-assist clutch & a new console

Yamaha has unveiled the 2025 Yamaha MT-03 internationally, and the bike now gets a lot of updates. The updates include a new colour scheme and a few new features. The changes are the same as what we had seen on the 2025 Yamaha R3.

What Is New?

The 2025 Yamaha MT-03 now gets a new colour scheme, called Ice Storm. The colour scheme offers a grey finish overall, with light blue highlights on the rims and the tank extensions. This new color looks quite good and makes the bike stand out.

It will appeal to riders who are looking for something different. Something a bit more flashy compared to the Icon Blue and Midnight Black colour schemes already offered.

When the Yamaha R3 and MT-03 were launched in India, one of our biggest complaints was the lack of a slip-and-assist clutch. Now Yamaha has brought this much-needed feature to both the 2025 Yamaha R3 and Yamaha MT-03.

Lastly, the bike now gets a new negatively lit-LCD console. Compared to the one used on the previous bike, this one is a lot more feature packed. It offers smartphone connectivity and related features such as call and SMS alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. The addition of these features have made the bike a lot more competitive compared to its rivals.

Overall, the updates are the same as the ones which were added to the 2025 Yamaha MT-03 unveiled recently

What Remains Unchanged?

Other than the addition of the new features, the bike remains unchanged. It is still powered by the same 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine producing 42PS and 29.5Nm.

The MT-03 gets the same underpinnings, with a 37mm inverted fork and monoshock.

2025 Yamaha R3 And MT-03 India Launch

We expect both bikes to be launched in India sometime next year. But Yamaha will be bringing both as CBUs from Thailand, which will keep the prices somewhat high. Currently the Yamaha R3 comes at an ex-showroom price of Rs 4,64,900 (ex-showroom). Whereas the MT-03 costs Rs 4,59,900 (ex-showroom).

With the updates, both the bikes could command a slight premium over the current prices. Currently, the Yamaha R3 goes up against the Aprilia RS 457. The RS 457 for perspective comes at a price of Rs 4,10,000 (ex-showroom). The Yamaha MT-03 competes with the KTM 390 Duke and the upcoming Aprilia Tuono 457.

Although the 2025 update is a welcome move from Yamaha, it likely won’t be enough. The main competitors of both the bikes are priced cheaper and also offer a lot more features. The Aprilia RS 457 and the KTM 390 Duke both offer electronic riding aids like traction control & ride modes as standard. Whereas, the Yamaha R3 and MT-03 are rather plain.

That said, the bikes still have an appeal among Yamaha fans who will prefer the refined Japanese twins over anything else.
