Classic Legends has introduced another Bobber to the Jawa portfolio by launching the 42 Bobber inspired by the Perak. While the new 42 Bobber is built on the same underpinnings as the Perak, a few significant changes distinctly set the two bikes apart. So, here’s all that’s new on the 42 Bobber explained with the help of eight pics.
Design
While the new Jawa 42 Bobber draws its inspiration from its sibling the Perak, the design is all-new and looks fresh. If anything, it reminds us of the Triumph Bonneville Bobber.
Headlight
Its redesigned front end features a new LED headlight; in fact, it gets LED lighting all-round.
New fuel tank
The 42 Bobber gets a distinctly muscular fuel tank with prominent knee recesses and sporty rubber pads accentuating the retro theme.
All-new Seat
Another element which sets this Bobber apart from the Perak is a re-cushioned, single-piece seat which can be adjusted forward or backward by about 25mm.
Retro Styling
It gets a long rear fender with a new taillight and indicator assembly. Adding the finishing touches is the redesigned exhaust.
Digital instrument cluster
Also new on the 42 Bobber is an LCD instrument console. It also gets a new switch cube on the handlebar (similar to the ones on Yezdi) to toggle through the menu.
Better Ergos
Jawa has revised the ergonomics on the 42 Bobber with the help of forward-set footpegs and raised (and wider) handlebars. The result is a more neutral riding posture compared to the Perak.
Engine
The Jawa 42 Bobber retains the familiar 334cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox, just like on the Jawa 42 2.1. But for the 42 Bobber, it maintains the Perak’s tune, making 30.64PS and 32.74Nm.
Underpinnings
It has been built on the same platform as the Perak and hence features the same hardware too. However, the suspension setup has been retuned for more comfort. With regards to braking, it continues to get discs at both ends and dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
The Jawa 42 Bobber is certainly a fresh take on the Perak and its sportier theme makes it that much more appealing. However, the best part of this new Bobber is that you can have all this at an accessible price tag of Rs 2,06,500 (ex-showroom).
