The F250 failed to make as big an impact as the 220F. CT125X and Platina 110 ABS were discontinued due to low demand

Quick Highlights

  • Pulsar F250, CT125X and Platina 110 ABS were discontinued from the Bajaj lineup

  • The Hero Xtreme 125R now becomes the most affordable bike with ABS

  • The F250 was launched alongside the N250 in 2021

The Pulsar F250

The Bajaj F250 was launched along with the N250, back in 2021. Back then, these two were the smoothest and the most refined Pulsars ever – a new chapter in the Pulsar story. The F250 was supposed to succeed the legendary Pulsar 220F that had been on sale for over a decade at that point.

Fun fact: the Pulsar 220F is still on sale.

Even though the F250 was more refined and offered higher performance than the 220F, it didn’t provide the same emotional connect with Indian consumers. The F250 arrived at the point when the performance segment had moved on from the 200-250cc category.

Potential buyers were more inclined towards the Pulsar N250 given the popularity of naked street bikes. This probably led to poor sales of the bike, eventually forcing Bajaj to pull the plug on the F250.

The CT 125X

The CT 125X was launched in August 2022. It was marketed as the most affordable 125cc commuter in India that looked rugged and had a slightly retro appeal to it. While the CT 125X was certainly a very capable motorcycle, its unusual, rugged design didn’t sit too well with regular 125cc commuter buyers. Also, with its 125cc competitors offering many more features for a similar, or slightly higher, price, buyers didn’t gravitate towards the CT. With not enough demand to justify production, Bajaj silently discontinued the CT 125X recently, but still continues selling the CT 110X.

The CT 125X rivaled the Honda Shine, TVS Radeon, Hero Glamour and Honda SP 125.

Platina 110 ABS

The Bajaj Platina 110 ABS was launched in Dec 2022, and was crowned the most affordable bike with ABS on sale in India. The Platina 110 ABS offered a staggering 70kmpl of economy. But in a segment where every rupee matters, buyers mostly ended up choosing the more affordable drum brake version of the Platina 110 over the ABS version.  The drum version of the Platina continues to  remain on sale and is loved and appreciated by the Indian consumer. After the discontinuation of the Platina 110 ABS, Hero Motocorp’s Xtreme 125R has now become the most affordable bike with ABS in India.

The Platina 110 ABS went head to head with TVS Star City Plus, Honda Livo, Splendor Plus Xtec and the Hero Passion Plus.
