The recent unveiling of the highly anticipated Tata Curvv has marked the entry of a newly introduced SUV-coupe segment in the country. With the upcoming Citroen Basalt, which will soon be entering the market, will take on a tough competition against the Tara Curvv. While technical specifications, feature details and interiors are yet to be revealed for both the cars, we do have the confirmed production spec images of both these SUV-coupes. So without further adieu, let's delve down and deeply analyse the exterior styling differences between them both.
At the first glance, the front fascia of both these SUV-coupes looks similar to their brand’s lineage. With the Citroen Basalt resembling the C3 Aircross, and the Tata Curvv resembling the Nexon and Harrier.
The Citroen Basalt gets plenty of squared-off elements in its chunky grille along with a twin-pod headlamp setup with integrated DLRs giving it a muscular and hunkered up look. While on the other hand, the Tata Curvv gets a connected LED DRL strip with signature lighting elements, with the headlamp cluster situated down in the bumpers. It gets a clean and sophisticated look with a lot of horizontal elements integrated in the grille section.
Now this is where both these vehicles stand out the most from the rest. With both the cars getting a sloping roof-line, the Tata Curvv’s roofline tapers around in a very angular design giving the contours a seamless effect, while the Basalt’s roofline merges into the boot-section with a kink and further extends to the boot lip.
Both the Curvv and Basalt get squared off wheel arches with heavy cladding to give it a butch appearance. The Citroen Basalt gets conventional pull-type door handles, while the Curvv is introduced with flush-door handles which pop-out when the car is unlocked. Keen eyed viewers will further spot a red element on the c-pillar of the Citroen Basalt. Both these cars sport handsome looking 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Citroen Basalt gets a lot of muscular hood lines, roof lines and haunches around its body including on the fenders, while the Curvv gets sleek striking lines around and a chiseled body shape with a lot of contours around the body. Both these cars get a shark-fin antenna, but no roof-rails on offer.
The Citroen Basalt’s rear end seems less dramatic when compared to the Tata Curvv. It gets a simpler design with thick bumper claddings and wrap-around type taillights and the Chevron badging with Basalt logo in the middle of the boot.
The Tata Curvv’s rear end on the other side looks way more radical with too many cuts and creases and featuring sleek looking connected LED tail lights. Up above, a dual-finned roof mounted spoiler can also be seen which adds a lot of character and drama to the rear profile.
Key dimension figures are not yet revealed to give the exact difference in terms of size but both these SUV-coupes are expected to be similarly sized in real life too. Looks are always a subjective matter, so before we take any side, tell us if you’d prefer the cleaner and muscular looks of the Citroen Basalt or the radical and dynamic looks of the Tata Curvv?
