Hero Mavrick 440 Review | India’s Most Affordable 400cc Bike!

The partnership between Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson has yielded a second motorcycle, the all-new Hero Mavrick 440 and it has now been launched.
The Hero Mavrick 440 is available in three variants and these are the variant-wise prices:
Base: Rs 1,99,000
Mid: Rs 2,14,000
Top: Rs 2,24,000
(all prices ex-showroom)
The base variant gets a single colour scheme called Arctic White, the mid variant is available in two colour options: Celestial Blue and Fearless Red whereas the top variant gets colour options: Phantom Black and Enigma Black.
The Hero Mavrick 440 will rival the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda H’ness CB 350, Jawa 42 and Yezdi Roadster.
Since it’s an all-new bike, most of the things on the Hero Mavrick 440 are new. The motorcycle is based on the Harley-Davidson X440 and as such, the Mavrick 440’s engine is shared with the American roadster. The 440cc engine makes the Mavrick 440 Hero’s highest-capacity bike. Here are the highlights:
- Air-/oil-cooled 440cc SOHC single-cylinder engine
- 27.3PS at 6000rpm (same as X440) and 36Nm at 4000rpm (2Nm less than the X440)
- 90 percent of the peak torque at accessible from 2000rpm, same as the X440
- 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch
- All-LED lighting setup includes an LED projector headlight that automatically lights up, depending on the ambient lighting
- Negative LCD display with smartphone connectivity
- Turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, digital clock, low fuel indicator, distance to empty, estimated time of arrival (ETA), and a phone battery indicator
- Also gets e-Sim connectivity that provides access to live tracking and 35 other features via the Connected 2.0 tech.
- 13.5-litre fuel tank capacity, same as the Harley X440
- Built on a trellis frame
- 43mm telescopic fork and 7-step preload-adjustable twin shocks, both with 130mm wheel travel
- 17-inch wheels wrapped with 110-section (front) and 150-section (rear) zero-degree steel belted radial tyres from MRF
- 803mm seat height (2mm less than the X440)
- 175mm ground clearance (5mm more than the X440)
- The alloy variant weighs 187kg, spoked variant is 191kg while the X440 weighs 190.5kg
The base variant comes equipped with spoke wheels, the mid variant gets alloy wheels and the top variant gets diamond-cut alloy wheels. The design language of the Hero Mavrick 440 is muscular and sporty and gets a sculpted tank with tank extensions and metal fenders.
Hero MotoCorp has done a very good job with the pricing as the top-spec variant of the Mavrick 440 is Rs 15,500 more affordable than the base variant of the Harley Davidson X440. So, the Hero Mavrick 440 offers good value for money and also sets a clear distinction of being a more affordable offering while the X440 is a more premium motorcycle. Bookings for the Hero Mavrick 440 are now open and Hero MotoCorp is also offering a ‘Welcome to Mavrick 440 Club Offer’ where the manufacturer will offer a customised kit of accessories and merchandise to customers who book the motorcycle before March 15, 2024.
