It gets a taller seat height & increased ground clearance and more to make it off-road-ready

If the Triumph Speed 400 excited you, but didn’t buy it because you like going off the beaten path, then Triumph has answered your prayers by finally launching the Scrambler 400 X at Rs 2,62,996 (ex-showroom Delhi). It can be booked with a token amount of Rs 10,000 on Triumph India’s website.

The changes on the Scrambler 400 X compared to the Speed 400 include a seat height of 835mm (45mm more than the Speed), a ground clearance of 195mm (25mm more than the Speed), 1418mm wheelbase (41mm longer), kerb weight of 185kg (9kg more), switchable traction control and ABS, a larger 19-inch front wheel and 150mm of wheel travel at both ends. It gets a 100/90-19 front and 140/80-17 rear tyre setup. The design changes include a headlight grille, knuckle guards, handlebar-mounted mirrors, sump guard and a double-barrel exhaust. It also gets a beautiful white stripe on the tank with the Triumph logo in between, and is available with three colour options: Matt Khaki Green and Fusion White, Carnival Red and Phantom Black, and Phantom Black and Silver Ice.

The rest of the bike remains unchanged from the Speed 400. So, it is powered by the same 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing an identical 40PS and 37.5Nm.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X will rival the likes of the Yezdi Scrambler and Royal Enfield Scram 411, and the upcoming next-gen Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.
