While we wait for Triumph to launch a 400cc cafe racer style bike, here’s a Speed 400 modified into a cafe racer

Quick Highlights

  • Triumph Speed 400-based cafe racer by Zeus Custom

  • Clip-on handlebars for an aggressive seating position

  • The upholstered leather seat and brushed metal finish tank give it an even more retro look

Cafe racers have that elegance and irresistible charm that is very difficult to look away from, and while we await the arrival of a 400cc Triumph Thruxton, here’s something to snazz up your day. Zeus Custom, from Bangkok, has taken what the Speed 400 has to offer and transformed it into a hot cafe racer. They say this custom bike is an example of what the custom house can bring out of the bike with bespoke modifications to showcase their craft.

At first glance, most of us might utter a pleasurable ‘UFF’ with the brushed metal finish and premium-looking leather accents. Charming, aren’t they? At the front, the bike has clip-on handlebars mounted on the front fork. Even the bar-end mirrors and LED turn indicators are mounted to the handlebar, giving the bike a clean and subtle look.

Moving to the seat, it is redesigned and upholstered in leather. It features a ribbed pattern, adorned with the ‘Zeus Custom Bangkok’ branding that magnifies the attention to detail on the bike. It also has a custom exhaust that looks stylish and will make heads turn when revved.

Overall, the modifications on the Triumph Speed 400 give it an aggressive yet stylish look, akin to a distinguished gentleman sporting an Omega timepiece. We simply can’t take our eyes off this one, If you have or happen to see any interesting builds DM them to us!

The custom house hasn’t mentioned any modifications done to the engine. However, Triumph offers the Speed 400 with a capable powertrain: a 398.15cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that makes 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Triumph Motorcycles recently revealed that it has sold 50,000 units over 50 countries around the world, boasting the success of its 400cc bikes. Celebrating this success, it has announced a limited-time discount of Rs 10,000 for its 400cc bikes. With the discount, the Speed 400 is offered at Rs 2.24 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Here’s more about it in detail.
