Citroen has taken the wraps off its upcoming SUV coupe, the Basalt Vision, globally. Designed primarily for the South American and Indian markets, it shares the same CMP platform as the Citroen C3 and Citroen C3 Aircross. While official launch details are not yet available, we expect the French carmaker to introduce it in our market in the coming months.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Citroen Basalt Vision
The exterior of the Basalt Vision resembles existing Citroen models, especially with the split grille reminiscent of the C3 and C3 Aircross SUV. The front also features a split headlight housing, adding to the aggressive nature of the SUV.
The profile boasts a sloping roofline, further enhanced by squared-out wheel arches and body cladding, along with sportier multi-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels.

Moving to the rear, the Basalt Vision presents a tall stance with the boot lid positioned higher than the bonnet. Additionally, the rear showcases wraparound LED tail lamps and a tall bumper with a chunky silver skid plate.
The interior of the Basalt Vision has not been revealed yet, but earlier spy shots showcased a dashboard layout similar to that of the C3 and C3 Aircross. Additionally, it will likely boast a distinct colour scheme to set it apart from the existing models and will come equipped with additional features such as automatic climate control, push-button start, and six airbags.
Although Citroen has not detailed the powertrain specifications for the Basalt Vision, it is expected to utilise the same 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the C3 models. Transmission options are likely to include both a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Citroen will launch the Basalt Vision in India in the second half of 2024 at an expected starting price of around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the likes of the upcoming Tata Curvv, while being an SUV coupe alternative to cars like the Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, and Volkswagen Taigun.
