Updated Citroen C3 Aircross borrows 6 new features from the Basalt.
Key features include six airbags, automatic climate control, LED headlights.
Tweaks to its prices are expected as well.
Does not get any cosmetic or mechanical changes.
Launch expected in the coming days.
At the unveiling event of the Basalt, Citroen also revealed the updated C3 and C3 Aircross models for India. The C3 Aircross was always a little under-equipped SUV in terms of features when compared to the segment that it sits in. But these new additions, derived from the Basalt, will certainly help in its fight against the mid-spec variants of compact SUVs like Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, that are loaded to the brim.
There are no changes made to the SUV, mechanically or design-wiseand it is expected to go on sale soon. For now, let’s take a look at what the new Basalt-derived features are:
Starting with the exterior, the C3 Aircross now gets LED projector headlights, which is expected to be offered on the top-spec variant only. This addition will definitely enhance the look of the SUV, while improving the brightness and visibility from those headlights.
The C3 Aircross now comes equipped with an automatic climate control, which will likely be restricted to the top-spec variants. Earlier it used to come with manual controls for the AC. This feature is an important addition as almost all cars in the segment, or even a segment below get an automatic climate control.
A key addition, which nowadays many automakers are offering as standard are 6 airbags. The C3 Aircross had only 2 airbags earlier, but has now been updated with 6 airbags, which are expected to be standard across variants.
The C3 Aircross now comes with rear AC vents, which will make sure there is better cooling throughout the cabin and ensure that the rear passengers do not have to rely on front AC vents solely.
The C3 Aircross will now feature seat belt reminders for all passengers on board. This safety feature will definitely improve the overall safety quotient and prompt the users to put their seatbelts on, irrespective of their seating position.
After all the essential features, the centre armrest is a feature that will add to the convenience factor of the SUV, and make longer journeys more comfortable. Earlier, only the driver had the provision of a central armrest, but this new one will offer the co-passenger a place to rest their hand as well.
Apart from these new features, the C3 Aircross already came packing features such as, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 7-inch digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, steering mounted audio controls, rear parking sensors, hill start assist, and a reversing camera.
There are no changes to the C3 Aircross mechanically. It retains the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, making 110 PS and 190 Nm with a 6-speed manual transmission and 110 PS and 205 Nm with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The updated C3 Aircross is expected to carry a slight premium over the current model, which is priced from Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 14.11 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the mid-spec variants of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
