The Japanese manufacturers have managed to make their presence felt at EICMA 2023 with Honda and Kawasaki revealing their 2024 lineup. Suzuki was not to be left behind and unveiled the all-new GSX-8R and the GSX-S1000GX.
The Suzuki GSX-8R is based on the GSX-8S sports naked and gets a full-fairing and raised clip-on handlebars, making it more of a sporty tourer rather than an out-and-out track bike. It is powered by a 776cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 82.9PS and 78Nm. It gets a bi-directional quickshifter, slip and assist clutch and ride-by-wire with 3 ride modes. The GSX-8R comes equipped with 41mm inverted fork and link-type monoshock (both from Showa) suspension setup.
On the other hand, GSX-S1000GX is built on the same platform as the GSX-S1000 GT and is powered by 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four-cylinder engine producing 152PS and 106Nm. It gets dual 310mm Brembo disc brakes with radially-mounted 4-piston calipers and a single Nissin disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. Features-wise, it gets the manufacturer’s Active Damping Control (Suzuki’s speak for semi-active suspension) with 3 preset settings: Hard, Medium and Soft, cornering ABS and traction control.
Suzuki is unlikely to launch either of the two bikes in India any time soon. Also showcased at the event was the V-Strom 800 DE originally unveiled at last year’s EICMA event. And who can forget the legendary ‘Dhoom’ bike, the Hayabusa! Suzuki showcased the latest-gen Hayabusa and also its 25th Anniversary model in Milan. The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is likely to be launched in the coming months, probably in early 2024. In fact, the bike was spied on in India earlier this year too.
