According to our sources, BMW will launch the facelifted X3 by mid January this year. Unofficial bookings are underway at select dealerships.
Cosmetic changes are minor, and you need to play spot-the-difference to notice what’s new. The grille – that thankfully hasn’t grown in size – is now connected, flanked by a pair of sharper-looking LED headlamps. Then there’s the angular bumper that lends the SUV a sportier appearance. It should get a new set of alloy wheels, while new tail lamps and rear bumper round off the list of updates.
The differences are even more paper-thin inside. The climate control knobs and display are now between the central AC vents, à la the 4 Series. Then we have the digital driver’s display (lifted from the new 3 Series), and a revised central console and gear knob.
No changes are expected underneath the hood. Currently, the X3 gets 190PS 2-litre diesel and 252PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engines, both paired with a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic and an all-wheel drivetrain.
The facelifted BMW X3 will renew its rivalry with the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and the Volvo XC60. Expect it to be priced at a premium over the current model that starts from Rs 57.9 lakh (ex-showroom pan India).
