Thanks to leaked images, we now know BMW’s new entry-level M car is more aggressive than before
  • New BMW M2 leaked without camouflage.

  • Gets bold styling with aggressive design elements.

  • Power outputs are set to be similar to the M2 CS.

  • Slated for global debut next month.

Thanks to a set of leaked images, we’ve got our first look at the new BMW M2 without any drapes ahead of its global debut next month. It was previously spotted completing testing at the unforgiving Nurburgring track in Germany.

How one feels about a design is subjective, but the spy shots are certainly splitting opinions and they are polar opposites. People seem to be either completely smitten by it or not impressed by the squared-off boxy design of the new M2; there’s no in-between.

Based on the standard 2 Series in markets abroad, the design philosophy is aggressive to say the least. The kidney grilles have been squared out and complement the squared off intakes flanking the lower front end.

The lights have been modified slightly, both at the front and back, while the massive diffuser sporting the quad exhaust setup grabs attention at first glance, followed by the humongous housing for the vertical reflectors just below the taillights.

BMW says power outputs are expected to be similar to the outgoing M2 CS’s 450PS from a twin-turbo 3-litre straight six. Transmission options could include a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Power could be sent to the rear wheels only - as was the case with the outgoing model. Further details are still under wraps.

The second-generation BMW M2 will make its global debut next month. It could be due for a launch in India sometime next year and will rival the likes of the bonkers Mercedes AMG A 45 S.
