Hero is all set to make the XPulse 200 4V, a motorcycle that is already one of the most value-packed entry-level off-road-friendly bikes, even more desirable with new upgrades. The veteran bikemaker has teased new features and equipment for the dual sport bike. Here’s what they are.
First up, the XPulse 200 4V will now feature a revised LED headlight with a new DRL that spells out the ‘H’ letter. In theory, the projector headlights should make things better when it comes to illumination. By the way, this is the same unit that was spotted on the XPulse 200 4V that launched in Turkey last year.
One of the teasers indicates three ride modes on the upcoming XPulse 200 4V: Road, Off-road and Rally. However, these won’t be normal ride modes, but instead ABS modes. So this means the XPulse 200 4V is not only the first Hero bike to get dual channel ABS, it is also the first from the brand to get multiple ABS modes. Expect the Road mode to be fully dual channel, Off road to allow a little bit of slip at the rear, and Rally to completely shut ABS off at the rear.
The engine is expected to stay the same 200cc air-cooled single that makes 18.4PS and 17.1Nm. But expect it to be compliant with the latest BS6.2 emission norms and possibly E-20 as well. Hero might also throw in a bunch of new shades on the bike for some visual refreshment.
Summing up, we expect Hero to launch the updated model by the end of this month or early June with a price hike of around Rs 5,000. The current model carries a price tag of Rs 1,38,766 (ex-showroom Delhi). These updates should make the XPulse even more purposeful than before, and adding such tangible features over and above emission updates add value to the motorcycle. Despite being Rs 1.15 lakh more expensive, the closest offroad-friendly bike, the Royal Enfield Himalayan, doesn't get ABS modes and LED headlight.
