The Honda Activa Electric has been in the Japanese manufacturer’s pipeline for sometime now. And some new details have surfaced about Honda’s production plans for the scooter and its updated launch timeline.
As per reports online, Honda is expanding its production capacity by adding two manufacturing lines at its factories in Gujarat and Karnataka. And the Honda Activa Electric’s production (codenamed K4BA) is set to begin at the facility in Karnataka by December 2024. The electric scooter was previously set to be launched in early 2024, when HMSCI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) MD and CEO Atsushi Ogata revealed it last year but now it is expected to arrive sometime in early 2025.
The upcoming Honda Activa Electric will be based on a new platform called ‘Platform-E’, as revealed in an event in 2023. According to the manufacturer’s patent drawings that surfaced online before, we got to know that the upcoming electric scooter will have a swingarm-mounted motor. This approach will help reduce the complexity of manufacturing and also make it easy to remove the rear wheel in case of any punctures.
