In the pantheon of rally car drivers or even in general automotive icons, Ken Block has a pedestal right up at the front. The Gymkhana star and Hoonigan co-founder is one of the most reputed and loved people in the community. But sadly, on January 2, reports came in of his demise following a mishap while snowmobiling in Northern Utah.

The rally star, aged 55, was reportedly out on a day of snowmobiling with his friends; and while going up a steep slope, his vehicle flipped, landing directly on top of him. At the instance, Ken was alone, but his group was able to find him and place a call to 911 (call for help). Unfortunately, he was declared dead on the spot.
This comes as a dazed shock as Ken was a hugely inspirational figure for the whole car community. His Gymkhana videos were entertaining and awe-inspiring, while his Hoonigan brand which is known to come out with some outlandish builds provided him wheels for his hooliganism. The latter isn’t just a front for supplying cars but also a shop for apparel and even car parts and accessories.
For the uninitiated, the Gymkhana videos offered a playing ground for Ken, where he used to close off a public space and go absolutely full-send in his outlandish builds, making for some awesome (to say the least) content for us to consume. The guy was such a legend that Audi offered him a bespoke S1 Hoonitran for him to go berserk in. And so he did, and that too around Las Vegas!
