Every year, Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) announces its pick for the best new car launched in the Indian market. The full list of this year’s contenders and jury is out, alongside the list of contenders for the Premium Car of the Year and Green Car of the Year awards.
ICOTY 2023 Contenders
From all the cars launched in 2022, the list has been narrowed to ten models that, according to the jury, were the most important. The list includes the mass-market Maruti Alto K10 and Citroen C3, going all the way up to the Hyundai Tucson premium SUV.

For cars priced over Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom), the ICOTY jury has the Premium Car of the Year award. This year’s list of contenders only includes one supercar, but no less than four EVs!

ICOTY Green Car Of The Year Award Contenders

2022 saw numerous EV launches and strong-hybrids made their way to the mass market for the first time. Of the smorgasbord of new hybrid and fully electric models, the ten contenders for the ICOTY Green Car of the Year award include the entry-level Tata Tiago EV, the Honda City hybrid as well as more obvious choices such as the premium Kia EV6 and Maruti Grand Vitara strong hybrid.
