Nissan X-Trail 2024 India Review: Good, But Not Good Enough!

Nissan India has taken the covers off the fourth gen X-Trail, ahead of its launch expected in the coming weeks. Before we bring out a comprehensive first drive review of the X-Trail, here’s a detailed image gallery of the Nissan X-Trail. Let's delve down to decipher everything that is a part of the newly introduced premium SUV, which rivals the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian.
The Nissan X-Trail will be launched in India in its 7-seat configuration and will lock horns with other full size family SUVs. In terms of dimensions, it is 4680 mm long, 1840 mm wide and 1725 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2705 mm.
Up-front, the X-Trail features Nissan’s signature V-shaped gloss-black grille with surrounding elements in chrome.
It gets a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs situated in the upper body, while the main headlamp cluster situated on the bumpers. Further below, a silver garnish strip can be found on the bumpers giving a contrasting effect.
The side-profile of the X-Trail features a high window line and gets 210 mm of ground clearance and stylish looking 20-inch alloy wheels.
From the back, it gets wrap around tail lights and some body cladding down below.
The interiors get an black and grey theme with leather wrapped soft-touch dashboard with the central console housing the gear selector, 2 cup holders and switches for electronic parking brake and auto-hold function.
Its three-spoke steering wheel gets plenty of buttons to control different functionalities of the car including cruise control. Behind the steering, is a large 12.3-inch digital driver’s display to show all the vitals of the vehicle.
The centre stage in the dashboard is taken by an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a dual-zone climate control unit situated down below it.
The second row of seating gets 40/20/40 split functionality to further amplify the practicality of the X-Trail.
The India-spec Nissan X-Trail will be offered in a 7-seat configuration, hence the third row of seats provide extra seating space.
The India bound Nissan X-Trail gets a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 163 PS and 300 Nm. It is mated to a 12V mild-hybrid system for added torque. This engine is geared using a shift-by-wire CVT gearbox.
The X-Trail will be entering India via the CBU route and will be offered in limited numbers initially. When launched, we expect it to be priced around the Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, and rivaling the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson, VW Tiguan and Toyota Fortuner.
