Earlier this year, Volkswagen had revealed the Virtus GT Plus Sport as a concept vehicle, alongside the Taigun GT Plus Sport. The latter has already been launched and it seems like Volkswagen will be launching the Virtus GT Plus Sport on our shores very soon as we’ve spotted the production-ready car. In this article, we take you through the real-world images of the upcoming Virtus GT Plus Sport variant:
Design-wise, there are no major changes to the exterior, save for the cosmetic enhancements which add to the sporty appeal. Up front, it features a blacked-out grille along with a gloss black treatment for the strip under the bumper. Both these elements earlier had a chrome finish to them. The “GT” badging on the grille is now finished in red, reminding you that you have opted for a special trim.
In profile, it sports blacked-out 16-inch alloy wheels with sporty looking red brake callipers. It sports blacked-out ORVMs as well, along with a red GT badging on the front fender.
From the rear, it comes with completely blacked-out LED tail lights which look stealthy! Other blacked-out elements include the black treatment on the lower part of the bumper, a black spoiler and a black shark fin antenna. The “Virtus” lettering is also finished in…. you guessed it right…black!

We expect VW to offer this particular trim with all the dualtone colour options. In these images, it was spotted in the white shade with a Carbon Steel Grey coloured roof. And no, the tape holding the blacked-out elements on the bumpers isn’t part of the new variant. It could’ve been that the parts weren't in place properly, and the dealer had made use of the tape to hold it in place.
The interior features the same dashboard layout and design, albeit with sporty inserts in the cabin. While the regular Virtus gets a black and beige theme, this trim comes with an all-black colour scheme. The steering wheel comes with red accents and stitching which amps up the sporty feel, but we wish that these red inserts were also available on the dashboard.
The red and black contrast can be seen with the leatherette seats as well. Apart from these cosmetic tweaks, the rest of the cabin remains similar to the standard Virtus.
In terms of equipment, it gets all the features that you get with the top-spec Virtus. Some of these include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a single-pane sunroof, an 8-inch driver’s display, cruise control, and wireless phone charger, and ventilated front seats. It also comes with red colour ambient lighting which completes the sporty look and feel of the cabin.

Volkswagen has not disclosed the powertrain specifications of the Virtus GT Plus Sport. Here are the powertrain options you get with the regular variants of the Virtus:
Engine |
1-litre turbo-petrol |
1.5-litre turbo-petrol |
Power |
115 PS |
150 PS |
Torque |
178 Nm |
250 Nm |
Transmission |
6-speed manual and 6-speed AT |
6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) |
Given that the Taigun GT Plus Sport comes only with the 1.5-litre petrol engine , we won’t rule out a similar treatment for the Virtus.
The Volkswagen Virtus is priced from Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 19.15 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect the GT Plus Sport variant to carry a premium over the regular variants. The Virtus rivals the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and the Honda City.
