The Kia Carens has been recalled for the second time this year over a probable issue with its digitised instrument cluster. Over 30,000 units of the carmaker’s people mover have been affected in this latest recall.
Kia says the digitised instrument cluster in these affected vehicles might have an issue in its booting process and could go blank. Fret not, though, as the fix is easy and will be done via a software update at no extra cost. Kia will be getting in touch with affected customers and will be asking them to bring their vehicle to the nearest service centre for rectifying it.
This is the second recall for Kia’s MPV this year. Earlier, the Korean marque recalled a batch of Carens for a potential issue with its airbag control module (ACU), which was also fixed via a software update. Yes, plenty of recalls might be frustrating to the customers, but it’s great to see manufacturers take this initiative to ensure the vehicle performs flawlessly.
To know our impressions of the Kia Carens, check out our in-depth first drive review. The MPV’s prices start from Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom) and the it locks horns with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo. Also, the Carens is an affordable alternative to the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross.
