ICOTY has announced the winners of the Indian Car Of The Year Award, 2023. It’s one of the most prestigious automotive awards in India, given to the best cars launched over the span of a year, in three different categories – Car Of The Year, Premium Car Of The Year and Green Car Of The Year. This year’s panel consisted of 18 senior automotive journalists and editors of automotive publications, including our own Zigwheels Editor, Ameya Dandekar.
Here are the winners in each category:
The Kia Carens people mover took the crown for this year’s ICOTY 2023 Award. It was picked from a curated list of ten models that included the Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Virtus, Maruti Alto K10 and Citroen C3. The full list of all the vehicles in each category can be found on this link.
The hotly contested Premium Car Of The Year Award is given to cars priced above Rs 40 lakh. This year’s list included ICE vehicles such as the Audi Q3, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Range Rover, as well as EVs such as the BMW i4 and iX. This year, the Mercedes EQS 580 has been voted the Premium Car Of The Year 2023.
2022 saw a long list of hybrid and fully electric models spanning multiple segments being launched in the country. The Kia EV6 is this year’s Green Car Of The Year, chosen from a list that included splendid EVs and hybrids including the Honda City eHEV, Mini Cooper SE and Kia EV6.
