Kia Syros: Here’s A List Of Its Pros And Cons Ahead Of February 1 Launch

The Syros has many strengths in its armour, but there are a few things that stop it from getting that perfect score!

Before getting into the pros and cons of the Kia Syros, let’s first understand what it is. In India, we already have plenty of subcompact SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon. Essentially, the Syros is also a subcompact SUV as its length is just under the 4-metre mark. But, it brings a new flavour to the segment, a premium one! It not only is loaded to the brim with features but also has a very spacious rear seat which will make your experience comfortable and enjoyable.

Amidst the multiple pros, trust me on this, every car has its share of cons as well. So in this report, we take you through the strengths and weaknesses of the Syros in detail:

Kia Syros: Positive And Negatives

Here’s a look at what’s good and what’s not so good with the Syros:

PROS

CONS

  • Plenty of space: Probably its biggest strength! It provides the best rear seat experience in the segment with recline and ventilation functions

  • Loaded with features: Panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch touchscreen and driver’s display along with a 5-inch climate control display, powered driver seat, a wireless phone charger and front and rear ventilated seats

  • Strong safety package: 6 airbags along with ABS with EBD, front, rear and side parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and also Level 2 ADAS

  • High-quality materials used for the interior

  • It has both petrol and diesel engine options

  • A decent boot space of up to 465 litres

  • Quirky design might not be accepted by everyone

  • Headlight and tail light placement at extreme edges of the vehicle. Prone to damage even in case of minor bumps

  • The suspension setup could have been better, needs improvement

  • Not an enthusiast’s pick, best driven in a controlled manner

So, Who Should Buy The Syros?

The Syros should be bought by someone who wants to stand out and own something unique. It is a thoroughly practical car with plenty of feel-good factors. Someone who wants a compact SUV without compromising on the in-cabin space and premium features should consider the Kia Syros.

Rivals

The Kia Syros competes with subcompact SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Citroen Basalt, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Kia Sonet. It also gives a fight to the larger SUVs like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate.

The Syros already seems to be a great SUV for someone who wants a well-rounded package and a comfortable rear seat. Its futuristic design might seem a little polarizing at first, but it could eventually grow on you.

Overall, another great addition by Kia, and we expect the Syros to sell in good numbers. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
