KTM 390 Duke Gets More Affordable

KTM India has announced a price slash of Rs 18,000 for the 390 Duke making it a bit more affordable than before. It now costs Rs 2.95 lakh and earlier it was priced at Rs 3.13 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Design

The KTM 390 Duke has always been a motorcycle with a polarising design language. It gets striking colour options with the combination of KTM orange. The latest third generation 390 Duke too, looks quite good with its sharp headlight design and body panels. It gets a slick looking tail section which goes well with the overall design of the motorcycle. But its the colour options (Electronic Orange and Atlantic Blue) that make the bike stand out on the road. 

Performance

The 390 Duke is powered by the brand new 399cc LC-4c single cylinder, liquid cooled motor which puts out class leading 46PS and 39Nm. KTM says that 80% of the torque is available from 5,000rpm making it a lot more tractable than before. The motorcycle is known for its manic power delivery and engaging characteristics. It also boasts of the quickest acceleration figures in the segment. 

Features

In terms of features, the 390 Duke is one of the most loaded motorcycles in the segment. It gets switchable traction control, super-moto ABS, quickshifter, cornering ABS, wheelie control, launch control, ride-by-wire throttle and a slip and assist clutch. It also gets a 5-inch TFT display which shows all the crucial information and supports smartphone connectivity. It gets turn-by-turn navigation, SMS/call alerts and music controls. Also the interface for the display is quite user friendly and easy to use along with some really good graphics.

Underpinnings

The KTM 390 Duke gets a very well designed light weight split trellis frame along with a fully adjustable 43mm WP Apex USD fork and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability. For braking duties it gets a 320mm front and a 240mm rear disc brake setup along with a 4-piston caliper for the front and a single piston for the rear. It gets a saddle height of 800mm which is quite manageable.

In the Indian market the 390 Duke competes with the  Triumph Speed 400, QJ Motor SRK 400, BMW G 310 R, Bajaj Dominar 400, Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z and the TVS Apache RTR 310.
