Engine: 349cc
Power: 20.4PS @ 6,100 rpm
Torque: 27Nm @ 4,000 rpm
The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 is the cheapest cruiser from Royal Enfield’s line-up. The Meteor 350 is the one to go for if you spend many hours in the saddle, covering long distances. It is a cruiser at heart and provides a plush ride. The bike offers a proper cruiser position featuring forward-positioned footpegs and a curved handlebar. Its low seat height of 765mm makes the bike a more confidence-inspiring ride for shorter riders while tackling traffic or out on the highway. The performance feels similar to the Classic 350 since the same 349cc J-series engine powers it. The bike’s large pillion seat aids in the pillion sitting at ease even for long durations.
Engine: 373.3cc
Power: 40PS @ 8,800 rpm
Torque: 35Nm @ 6,500 rpm
The Bajaj Dominar 400 sports a muscular design. The engine offers a sporty performance with a crisp throttle response. It is a very capable highway cruiser. It offers an upright riding posture with a slight forward-canted stance, with a manageable seat height of 800mm. Being the brand’s flagship bike it is decked out with features like it has two instrument clusters; one that shows speed, rpm, average mileage, fuel level and side indicator alert. The other is mounted on the fuel tank and provides essential information like an odometer, gear position, trip meter, and a clock. Overall the bike handles quite well. However, the bike is top heavy which can be felt while manoeuvring the bike in the parking lot or dodging traffic.
Engine: 398.15cc
Power: 40PS @ 8,000 rpm
Torque: 37.5Nm @ 6,500 rpm
The Triumph Speed 400 is the British manufacturer’s cheapest retro roadster-style bike. It is a premium packaged bike with excellent build quality priced competitively. The bike is well-balanced and nimble on its feet. The engine offers good power delivery in the mid-range and isn’t too aggressive from the get-go. The suspension set-up feels plush and tackles bad patches on the road well. The semi-digital instrument console gives the bike a ‘retro’ vibe along with an LCD screen displaying the tachometer, odometer, trip meter and other regular readouts. It misses out on the phone connectivity feature. All in all, it is a great package with eye-catching looks, exceptional fit and finish levels, good performance, great handling characteristics and a very comfortable riding experience that will leave a smile on your face.
Engine: 248.76cc
Power: 30PS @ 9,000 rpm
Torque: 24Nm @ 7,500 rpm
The KTM 250 Adventure is the brand’s most accessible adventure bike. It has a similar styling as the 390 Adventure with sharp lines and aggressive looks. It is available in 2 attractive colours: Grey and Atlantic Matt Blue. The engine is fairly tractable and offers decent pick-up. Out on the highway, it can effortlessly cruise at 100-110kmph, with some vibrations felt at the footpegs which aren’t that big a deal. The bike is capable enough to tackle easy off-road trails however, it is not designed for more serious stuff. Though, at times the suspension might feel stiff. So while riding this you might have to be more cautious. The bike has a spacious two-piece seat with an upright riding position. The seat height of 855mm can be overwhelming for shorter riders. Overall, it is an accessible adventure bike with good fuel efficiency and good touring capabilities.
Engine: 312.12cc
Power: 35.6PS @ 9,700 rpm
Torque: 28.7Nm @ 6,650 rpm
The TVS Apache RTR 310 is a sports naked-style bike. The bike offers sporty performance and sharp handling with an extensive list of features. It has a muscular design with bold graphics. The bike’s paint and overall finish give it a premium feel. The engine feels quite lively and offers good low-end performance to zoom past traffic. However, while doing highway runs at higher speeds the engine can feel stressed. The 800mm seat height makes the bike quite accessible to all sorts of riders. Its long list of features includes climate-controlled seats, which are seen on a bike for the first time. It features a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation and 5 ride modes: Urban, Rain, Sport, Track, and SuperMoto. Additional features also include a dynamic headlight, cruise control, lean sensor, wheelie control, stoppie control, cornering ABS and a 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit).
