Defender 130 Outbound is currently available to order in India.
Land Rover has unveiled the Defender 130 Outbound SUV as a factory-built overlanding version of the longest Defender SUV. The luxury off-roader gets bespoke aesthetic and functional changes over its standard variant and is a five-seater model. Importantly, it also introduces Land Rover’s iconic 5-litre supercharged V8 engine to the Defender 130 lineup.
The Defender 130 Outbound is now available to order in India as well, and its prices should be announced soon.
The Defender 130 can comfortably seat up to eight people, but in the Defender 130 Outbound there are just five seats. The space behind the rear seats presents a truly gigantic, 1329-litre boot with a flat floor and multiple mounting points for luggage restraints.
You can only have the Defender 130 Outbound in Carpathian Grey or Santorini Black exterior colours with a black roof and alloys, dialling up the stealth. Similar to the standard Defender, the Outbound SUV can be equipped with a wide array of accessories such as a roof rack and exterior luggage carriers to enhance its go-anywhere capabilities.

At the rear, the Outbound edition gets darkened taillights and the V8-powered SUV also features quad exhausts and multiple “V8” badges. It’ll get 20-inch alloy wheels alongside the option of larger 22-inch rims.
With the Outbound variant Land Rover also brings the V8 option, already offered in the 110 and 90-series Defender variants, to the largest 130 SUV. The 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine makes 500PS and 610Nm, enough to propel this mammoth off-roading luxury SUV from nought to 100kmph as quickly as a sports sedan – 5.7 seconds!
The Defender 130 Outbound is also offered with the 3-litre, six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines paired with mild-hybrid systems that were already available with the standard 130-series SUV.
Apart from a powerful engine, the Defender 130 Outbound also gets Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 traction management system and a proper four-wheel-drive system. It also gets air suspension as standard that offers 430mm of wheel articulation and allows the SUV to wade in water 900mm deep.
The Land Rover Defender is laden with luxury features such as 14-way powered, heated and cooled front seats, four-zone climate control and a premium Meridian sound system. It has an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and What-three-words navigation. Other equipment includes a fully digital driver’s display, a heads-up display and an air purifier.
