The Land Rover Defender has got its most powerful iteration in the form of Defender Octa. It is based on the Defender 110 bodystyle (5-door) and will make its world premier at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that will be held between 11th to 14th July, 2024. The Defender Octa has also been launched in India at from Rs 2.65 crore (ex-showroom). Apart from the powerful engine, this version of the SUV also features enhanced dimensions, an updated exterior, and improved hardware for better off-road performance.

Along with the Defender Octa, there will be a special Edition One version of the SUV which will be on sale till one year after its launch.
While Land Rover hasn’t altered the overall design and silhouette of the SUV, it now features more rugged styling elements.
The front and rear bumper design have been updated for an improved approach and departure angles, while the Defender Octa also gets underbody protection further improving its capabilities. The front grille has been updated for a better air flow, while at the rear it sports a quad exhaust setup.

The Defender Octa features hydraulically interlinked 6D Dynamics suspension technology, paired with continuously variable semi-active dampers that can detect the road surface and adjust damping accordingly. This setup ensures a smoother ride on both rough terrain and paved roads.Specifically, Land Rover has increased its height by 28mm, widened the track by 68mm, and extended the wheel arches to accommodate larger 33-inch diameter wheels. All of this helps in its improved dynamic prowess.
The Defender also gets upgraded 400 mm front brake discs with Brembo brake calipers and the fastest steering ratio of any Defender to date, for immediate, precise, responses.
Inside, the Defender Octa gets the same dashboard layout as its regular version, but gets different interior themes. The Octa gets Burnt Sienna and Ebony, or Light Cloud and Lunar options, while the Octa Edition One comes with a Khaki and Ebony interior theme.

The Defender Octa is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with mild hybrid tech, which churns out 635 PS and 750 Nm. This unit delivers power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. With the launch control, the torque output increases to 800 Nm, helping it sprint from nought to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds.
The Land Rover Defender Octa will be priced between Rs 2.65 crore and Rs 2.85 crore. The bookings for the same will open following its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed that will be held between 11th to 14th July, 2024. This model will go up against performance SUVs such as the Lamborghini Urus, BMW XM and Porsche Cayenne.
