Mahindra Scorpio N-based Global Pik Up truck concept revealed.
Gets rugged styling with a few cues matching the Scorpio N SUV.
Pickup credentials are evident in beefy front and rear skid plates, snorkel, roof rack and LED light bar.
Is powered by next-gen 2.2-litre m Hawk diesel engine.
There’s a new pick up truck concept with a Mahindra badge, ready to haul some load and it’s unlike any before it. Forget the likes of the Bolero Camper, this one takes mechanicals, technology and luxury to a whole new level for the marque with underpinning derived from the Scorpio N SUV. Meet Mahindra’s Global Pik Up truck concept which has just been revealed in South Africa.
As expected, the styling shouts beefy and rugged, as a quintessential pickup truck should. Similarities with the Scorpio N are apparent in a few places, with a similar headlight shape, but the overall design here is clearly novel with muscular and rugged elements all around.
The grille is new and gone are the vertical slats that we usually associate Mahindra cars with. Coupled with the massive steel skid plate, the front-end is beefy and commands for attention. Below the headlamps are the vertically stacked LED fog lamps placed in muscular housings. You also get a snorkel to help it wade better in water as well. There’s a roof rack on top, with space for some storage along with a horizontal LED light bar for even more improved visibility.
The profile holds a similar windowline that tapers upwards towards the rear, while the rear quarter of the silhouette is now open, voila, the open bed. There are massive arches and the model has been lifted up over the standard SUV, which are filled by beefy 5 dual-spoke alloys shod in massive off-road spec tyres. Obviously, it’s so high off the ground you need those dedicated twin side steps that look chic to help you ingress and egress.

The rear takes up a conventional pickup design with rectangular and edgy elements, defined by the lower bumper and upright tailgate, flanked by sleek vertical LED tail lights. There are two spares mounted on the bed, which should come handy if more than one tyre gives up in your off-roading excursion.
Mahindra will position it as a lifestyle vehicle which won't compromise on luxury and safety. Subsequently, the concept boasts features like a sunroof, connected car technology, an immersive audio system, Level-2 ADAS features and mutiple airbags.
As for source of its puissance, the concept pickup uses a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which has now been updated and is in its second generation. It continues to get 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions and drive is sent to the road via a four-wheel drivetrain.

Chances of it coming to India aren’t ruled out, given that Mahindra said it’ll focus on bringing it to the ASEAN, Australian, South African, Indian, and South and Central American markets. On our shores, it would be the ideal rival of the Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux, and could be priced around the Rs 20 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
