Just days ahead of Mahindra Scorpio N’s official launch, we’ve got the full details about its powertrains and variants. The all-new SUV will get three petrol and diesel engine options with manual and automatic transmissions, and will be available in four broad trim levels – Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8. The top-spec Z8 can be specced with a luxury pack – Z8L – like in the case of the XUV700.
Only the Z8 and Z8L trim levels will be offered with 6-seater configurations with captain seats in the second row. As standard, the Scorpio N is a 7-seater SUV.
The base-spec Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 diesel will get a 2.2-litre diesel unit with 132PS on tap, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The Z4 variant will be available in the lower 132PS state of tune with a manual gearbox, and the higher 175PS state of tune with both manual and automatic transmission options.
All the higher-spec variants Z6, Z8 and Z8L will come with a 175PS engine under the bonnet. From our previous exclusive Scorpio N story, we know that this diesel engine will be tuned for 370Nm in the manual variants and 400Nm in the automatic versions. We now know that it’ll produce 138PS in Zip Mode, with peak power reserved for the Zap and Zoom driving modes. For the engine/transmission options available, see the table below:
