Since its launch in April last year, the Maruti Fronx has been in high demand. The crossover SUV first reached the 1 lakh milestone in just 10 months of its launch, and now has managed to do another 1 lakh in a quicker time of 7.3 months. This is a record-breaking milestone as it is the fastest in its segment to do so. Delhi, NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kochi have been the top 5 markets for the Fronx. The Maruti Fronx is a subcompact crossover SUV with a modern design language and a unique look in its segment. Its compact dimensions coupled with sporty crossover-like looks is one of its strong points. It also gets a well-equipped cabin with plenty of convenience and safety features that take care of your daily needs and requirements. Moreover, Maruti offers it with multiple powertrain options, variants and colours to cater to different sets of buyers.
The Fronx’s rebadged iteration is sold by Toyota and is named the “Urban Cruiser Taisor”. Both are essentially the same car underneath, but come with a slightly tweaked design and different warranty periods for the top-spec turbo-petrol variants.
As mentioned before, the Fronx comes with enough features to keep you satisfied. Some of these include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, a heads-up display, keyless entry, push-button start-stop, cruise control, and automatic climate control.

In terms of safety, it gets ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and reverse parking sensors.
The Maruti Fronx comes with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 90 PS and 113 Nm, and a 1-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 100 PS and 148 Nm. Transmission options include a standard 5-speed manual, a 5-speed AMT for the naturally aspirated petrol and an optional 6-speed torque converter for the turbo-petrol. You also get a factory-fitted CNG kit option which comes with the 1.2-litre NA petrol engine. In CNG mode, the Fronx makes a reduced output of 77.5 PS and 98.5 Nm.
The Fronx is priced between Rs 7.52 lakh to Rs 12.88 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Exter, Hyundai Venue, Citroen Basalt, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Sonet, Toyota Taisor, and Nissan Magnite.
