Yamaha Japan has introduced two customisation kits for its flagship retro motorcycle – the XSR900. The company’s Y’S Gear division has crafted the Blood Line Style and Touring Style kits to transform the XSR into a droolworthy retro racer that you can do track days or even tour with.
Yamaha XSR 900 Blood Line Style
The current iteration of the XSR900 is one of the most tastefully done retro-styled bike in the market currently, and this kit takes it a level higher. Yamaha offers an all-new body kit, consisting of a headlight cowl, front fender, fuel tank, side panels and a seat cowl, all finished in the iconic red and white paintjob, similar to the 60th anniversary World GP Edition of the R15M.
Other bits include a tail tidy, adjustable brake and clutch levers, headlight grill, Akrapovic exhaust, performance damper and a radiator cover. This kit will set you back by 630,190 Yen, which translates to around Rs 3.96 lakh.
Yamaha XSR900 Touring Style
As gorgeous as the Yamaha XSR900 looks, it may not be the best choice for touring. But with this kit, you can change that. It includes a headlight and rear seat cowl, saddle bags with mounting carriers, a linkage for the monoshock that will drop the seat height, grip warmers, crash guards, frame damper and a radiator cover. This kit will set you back by an equivalent of Rs 2.16 lakh.
There are no performance changes in the Yamaha XSR900. So, it continues with its CP3 liquid-cooled 899cc engine making 118.6PS at 10,000rpm and 93.5Nm at 7000rpm.
We are awestruck by the Yamaha XSR900, but it is unlikely to debut in our market. But we could get the YZF-R7 and the MT-09 SP soon. So, if you are on a lookout for a retro-style motorcycle, the Kawasaki Z900RS is a great but expensive option.
