The highly anticipated Citroen Basalt is soon to get launched and compete with the Tata Curvv  in India. The undisguised test mule which was recently spied, sported a red colour paint hue In profile, staying true to the SUV-coupe design, it gets a sloping roofline which makes it stand out from the rest of the SUVs in the market giving it a distinctive appeal.

Other things which can be seen clearly are the squared off wheel arches with body cladding and flap-type door handles. It was spied sporting handsome looking multi-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels, hence giving it a sporty stance on the road. The rear gets wrap-around LED tail lights, a silver finished skid-plate on the lower section of the bumper and a shark fin antenna on the top. Keen-eyed viewers can also spot an element protruding on the C-pillar of the vehicle.

The Citroen Basalt should come encompassing a large 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch fully digital driver’s display, automatic climate control unit, keyless entry, push button start/stop functionality, cruise control and also a wireless phone charger. 

Safety is also expected to include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking camera with parking sensors, hill start and hill descent control, seat belt reminders for all occupants and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The Citroen Basalt is most likely to borrow the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine option from the C3 Aircross, producing 110 PS.. It is expected to be offered with both 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options. The lower-spec trims could possibly get the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 82 PS.

Citroen Basalt: Expected Price And Rivals

The Citroen Basalt is expected to be introduced at around the Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, with higher spec variants costing more. It will be rivaling the upcoming Tata Curvv and will be an alternative to other compact SUVs in the market like the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and VW Taigun.
