The entry-level naked bike segment is a popular one, with many brands introducing performance-oriented machines at affordable price points. The FB Mondial Piega 125 is a great example of the same, with a killer design and a reasonably powerful engine, and makes for a great rival to the KTM 125 Duke, and the other desi alternative, the Yamaha MT-15 V2.0.
The looks of the streetfighter are an interesting subject as it employs a futuristic styling, with sharp and edgy body panels and a distinctly aggressive design. What stands out is the low-slung, protruding headlight cowl dual vertically stacked LED setup, and the floating rear frame with a sleek wheel mounted number plate. Even the fuel tank extensions are sharp and extend ahead of the USD fork. All in all, the naked does not look like a small bike.
Propelling the Piega 125 is a 124cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which produces around 14PS and 10.5Nm, paired to a six-speed gearbox. These output figures make the Piego 125 go head to head with the KTM 125 Duke, which produces 14.5PS and 12Nm. However, the Piego 125 gets a better power-to-weight ratio with a featherlight weight of just 135kg against the Duke’s 159kg (kerb).
For better manoeuvrability and agility, the streetfighter comes suspended on a 40mm USD fork up front and rear monoshock. The braking hardware includes discs at both ends with the safety of ABS.
Features on the Piega 125 include full colour TFT instrument cluster without smartphone connectivity and gets all-LED lighting.
The FB Mondial Piega 125 is priced at Euros 4,400 (around Rs 3.66 lakh), which is more affordable than the European-spec KTM 125 Duke priced at Eur 5,450 (around Rs 4.54 lakh). If you are looking for a 125cc bike in India, then you can get the 125 Duke. That said, the Yamaha MT-15 not only costs less but also offers more power and is fully feature-packed.
