Toyota has confirmed that the Land Cruiser 250 which was globally revealed in 2023, will make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2025. It will also be called the Land Cruiser Prado and slot in below the LC300 in India. Even though it will be the entry-level offering, it still looks giant and offers the essence of the Land Cruiser and is expected to be priced marginally lower.
Here is an in-depth look at the SUV:
The LC 250 gets a boxy silhouette familiar to what we have seen on the Land Cruiser that is currently being sold in India. It might not be as huge as the LC300, but it still flexes its road presence thanks to its 4920 mm long length, 1980 mm width and 1870 mm height. For perspective, it's significantly longer than the Toyota Fortuner.
The front end has a rather retro vibe to it with rectangular design elements complimenting the overall looks of the SUV. It looks macho and bulky from the sides and has plenty of blacked-out elements. The wheel arches are large and chunky, and the window line tapers upwards as it goes towards the rear end.
The rear portion of the SUV gets squared-off elements that resonate with the overall design of the SUV. The lower section of the bumper looks beefed up and you also get a silver skid plate for added ruggedness. Overall, it looks like it has come out of a gym all pumped up and ready for action.
Getting straight to the point, the cabin of the LC Prado welcomes you with a rugged yet premium experience. It is all-black and has a mix of physical buttons as well as two large screens to keep up with the modern trends. The steering wheel looks bulky and heavy-duty, making it ideal for an offroad-focused SUV. The lower-centre console houses plenty of storage options and you also get handles on the A-pillar that will come in handy during offroad trails.

In terms of features, you get two 12.3-inch screens consisting of infotainment and driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, multi-zone climate control, powered front seats, push-button start-stop, and 10 airbags among the other amenities on board.
The global version of the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 gets plenty of powertrains including a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol hybrid, a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol, a 2.8-litre diesel mild hybrid, a 2.8-litre diesel, and a 2.7-litre petrol powertrain to opt from. Power figures range from 163 PS/246 Nm for the base-spec version to 330 PS/630 Nm for the turbo-hybrid powertrain. We expect the India-spec model to get a 2.8-litre diesel or the 2.8-litre diesel mild hybrid. The Fortuner currently gets the former and is set to be upgraded to the latter. We expect the engine to be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The LC Prado is built on the same GA-F platform as the LC300 Series, and we already know how potent the latter is. Furthermore, Toyota has claimed that the frame rigidity has increased by 50 percent and overall rigidity has increased by 30 percent. With offroad modes and plenty of offroading hardware, we expect the LC300 to be super proficient on unpaved roads.
We expect the Land Cruiser Prado to be priced around Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom). It will be an off-roader alternative to the likes of Range Rover Velar, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Audi Q5.
