Toyota has launched its Maruti Fronx-based crossover called the ‘Urban Cruiser Taisor’. While the Taisor and Fronx are the same car underneath, they do have some differences which gives the Taisor its own identity.
Let’s take a look at how the two cars stack up:
As both cars are based on the same platform, the Taisor is just a badge-engineered Fronx, sharing almost all the same parts. That said, there are a handful of differences. While the Fronx has a baby Grand Vitara-like vibe with its grille design and three-part DRLs, the Taisor has a wider honeycomb mesh grille and DRL signatures similar to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
In profile, no sheet metal changes have been made. The Taisor sits on 16-inch diamond-cut 10-spoke alloy wheels that are styled differently from the multi-spoke 16-inchers on the Fronx.

The tail lights have also been given a fresh look, but just like the Fronx, they are connected together with a full-width light bar. The Taisor’s signature is once again similar to the Hyryder, while the Fronx’ three-part elements take inspiration from its bigger brother, the Grand Vitara.

And since we are on the outside, it must be noted that the Taisor gets less colour options than the Fronx. Both of them get hues unique to their nameplate, details of which have been mentioned in the table below:

Coming to the inside, there is nothing to separate these cars other than the Suzuki and Toyota logos on the Fronx and Taisor, respectively. Both the cars get an identical dashboard design and layout, and even the black/maroon colour scheme is shared between them.
The Taisor comes equipped with all the features that you get to see on the Maruti Fronx, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, steering-mounted audio controls, wireless phone charger, cruise control, a coloured multi-info display and a heads-up display.
In terms of safety it gets up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and a 360-degree camera.
The Toyota Taisor and the Fronx share identical engine options. The powertrain options include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 90 PS, a 1.2-litre CNG powertrain with 77PS, or a more powerful 1-litre turbo-petrol engine with 100 PS. The standard gearbox option is the 5-speed manual, but the 6-speed torque converter and 5-speed automatic transmission are available for the turbo-petrol and NA petrol models, respectively.
Other than its Maruti counterpart, the Fronx, the Taisor locks horns with the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
