BMW has launched the XM Label, which is the most powerful iteration of the XM performance SUV. It is priced at Rs 3.15 crore, which is Rs 55 lakh more expensive than the standard XM. Only one unit of the XM Label will be sold in India out of the 500 units produced worldwide. Globally, it is called the XM Label Red, but has been renamed to XM Label for the Indian market. Here’s an overview of the limited edition XM:
Since it is the most powerful BMW M model, it would make sense to talk about its engine specifications first. The XM Label features the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, albeit in a higher tune. It now produces 748 PS and a whopping 1000 Nm, which is up by 95 PS and 200 Nm from the standard XM. Thanks to its hybrid system featuring a 25.7 kWh battery pack, it can be driven in pure EV mode for up to82 km.
It sprints from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds (5 seconds quicker than the standard XM) and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The top speed can be extended to 290 kmph if you opt for the M Driver’s package. Power is sent to all four wheels using an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The XM Label is finished in BMW Individual Frozen Carbon Black Metallic with red inserts all over the exterior. The sporty red finish is given to design elements including the kidney grille surround, wheel inserts, model badges, rear diffuser and the brake calipers which are also finished in red. It sits on 22-inch M light alloy wheels.
Apart from these cosmetic changes, the silhouette and design elements remain identical to the standard version of the XM.
Complimenting the exterior, the interior features a red and black theme which is in line with the special edition’s sporty nature. To denote its speciality, you will find a 1/500 plaque placed below the control display. As a contrast to the black colour, you get red stitching for the seats, instrument panel, door trim, and centre console, and red accents for the AC vents as well.
In terms of equipment, it gets a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, 20-speaker Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system, a heads-up display, connected car tech features, multi-colour ambient lighting, and a four-zone climate control.
In terms of safety, it packs 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS, cornering brake control (CBC), dynamic brake control (DBC), active roll stabilisation with active roll comfort, electric parking brake with auto hold, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a host of ADAS features.
The XM Label is priced at Rs 3.15 crore, while the standard XM is priced at Rs 2.6 crore (ex-showroom). It competes with the Lamborghini Urus, and the Audi RS Q8.
